This is the Largest Print We've Ever Made

Standing at mind-bending 32”x 48,” this is the largest single canvas we’ve ever made. With photo technology as advanced as it is, modern image sensors are almost daring us to push the limits with the scope of our art and medium(s).

Sure, it’s true that we make triptych canvas prints as large as 40”x 90”, but even those are comprised of three separate 30”x 40” prints. So this stands alone as the largest we’ve made, and it just looks exquisite.

Check out more images of this print, and more of Brian Shannon’s work after the jump.

Joseph O'Connor is a hyper-talented NY-based photographer with a knack for capturing the natural beauty ingrained into the south shore of Long Island.

Born and raised in Long Beach, NY, he naturally developed a strong connection with the ocean, one that most people know pairs ever so eloquently with a passion for photography. His journey in photography began when his dad began teaching him how use a Pentax Super Program 35mm film camera during his high school years. Joseph's father loved capturing film photos of lighthouses and small coastal towns in the northeast, especially Maine.  It was these early forays into photographic expression that inspired a lot of what Joe enjoys shooting today.

Joseph would go on to develop a lot of skills in the water while working as a full time City of Long Beach Lifeguard for 6 years. He continues to serve the City of Long Beach as a part-time weekend lifeguard.  In the future, he's planning on shooting a lot more water based surf and fine art photography.

Currently, Joseph creates high quality images using Nikon and Aquatech Imaging Solutions equipment. He's best known for photos of the Long Beach Boardwalk and Long Island surf-Lineups.  He has been published in online galleries by the leading surf media outlets such as Surfing Magazine, Eastern Surf Magazine, Whalebone, Surfline, and Magic Seaweed.

A new business on the Barrier Island is offering residents premium prints at unbeatable prices. Boardwalk Canvas, which was founded in 2016 began with the impetus to provide the community access to art being created right under their nose.

“I’ve been an ocean lifeguard since 2001, and had friends in the local surf scene, and a big part of that is the photographers,” said Brendan Dempsey, founder and CEO of Boardwalk Canvas. “Being around that community with people who are so artistically-driven, it was always intoxicating to me how much talent twas here, but the locals know little about local artists.”

Dempsey, who’s lived in Long Beach since 2008, came up with the idea to connect residents with the area’s finest photographers by selling prints canvases of original, inspiring images of the beach, boardwalk, and other landmarks around town.

With a background as a television producer, Dempsey spent the last four years working at Paramount Network, which gave him, what he called, “lens time,” enabling him to become more familiar with the craft. “I spend a lot of time handling cameras, and learned the technical skills behind photography,” he said.
